Interview with Eric Leto

Eric Leto Interview

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you started training?

I’m Eric Leto, a sponsored professional WBFF fitness model, a certified Diet consultant and a secondary school teacher. I am living healthy since 4 years now, it completely changed my life and I wanted to be part of the fitness industry to be inspiring people as well as it would be a huge challenge for myself. My first photo shooting was in 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa. I started to enjoy the time in front of the camera and was willing to continue, so I accessed the industry through model agencies and photographers.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by setting myself goals, short term and long term goals; I always try to improve myself, to get stronger mentally and sharper physically. Even Fitness Models have idols and athletes who inspire them, so I get often pushed by other Fitness Models or the WBFF Family.

What is your current workout routine?

I usually change every week, I try to switch training methods and machines as well as overall sets. There are different periods, such as lean muscle gain or cut periods, which occur during 8 weeks in general.
The best workouts are the ones who are very intense and high on repetitions with little rest between the sets. I like to feel the pump and the congestion after each set.
Here is a sample of what my week looks like.

What gives you the best results when trying to get lean?

Nothing worth having comes easy, unfortunately you have to work really hard to get seriously shredded. I usually Diet for 12 Weeks, without any cheat, working out 5 times in a week and doing at least 1 hour cardio training per day. It’s a matter of discipline and consistency.

What 3 exercises have contributed the most to building your physique?

Definitely Free and Front squats, deadlifts and bench-press. Essentially compound movements’ help you build those extra round and hard muscles.

What supplements do you use?

Personally, the most important supplements are Amino Acids, they are essential for muscle recovery and muscle gains. Pre- workouts are also a favourite supplement, I don’t use it often, but when I do, I just love the extra pump that I get from it.

What is the most common training question that people ask you?

What are the best exercises for Abs? That is the most common question that I get from every kind of person. I think it’s almost everyone’s favourite body part, the ABS. Having a strong midsection can make you stand out from the crowd.

What is your greatest achievement so far?

Definitely having my WBFF Pro Card this year in Las Vegas at the World Championship, it was hard work but at the end it all paid off. Can still not believe what happened to me, so overwhelmed about this trophy.

What is your favourite quotes?

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
“Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you respond to it.”

What are your plans for the future?

I try to be the best I can, as a person and as an athlete. I’m going to do a few WBFF PRO competitions and I will do my best to be on a podium for the World Championship. And I will never give up on my dream as well, to be on the cover of Muscle & Fitness Magazine.
