Petr Prielozny Interview

Could   you   tell   us   a   bit   about   yourself   and   how   you   started   training?

My name is Petr Prielozny, I am 24 y/o, 5’11 tall, weighing from 235-185lbs. I live in NYC where I work as a professional personal trainer and nutrition expert. I am also a European and American bodybuilding champion and fitness model.

I was always a sport based child with tons of activities, and at 15 I started with weight lifting. I am a classic story, grew up in a small town so I had to build my own gym equipment from concrete filled bottles, ironing board as bench, etc.

How   do   you   stay   motivated?

I would say that motivation is very important key in your bodybuilding progress. It’s not always that easy to be focused on diet, workout, competition 24/7.
With the support of your family, fans, it’s always easier.
I like to keep an eye on the competition, I watch the bodybuilding videos, even talk with pros I know.

What   is   your   current   workout   routine?

My current workout routine is composed of heavy basic exercises. My current split is shoulders and arms, back and chest, legs and calves.

Always starting with stretching, light weight warm up and slowly increasing the weight set by set, I usually find myself doing a 2-3 rep sets with heavy weight. Always correct technique, not a cheating. I tend to do supersets as well. Workout takes approximate 70 minutes.

What   gives   you   the   best   results   when   cutting?

The most effective way to lose the weight is the combination of smart diet, weight lifting and cardio.
It always depends on your own metabolism, nutrition habits, etc, but basically if you want to change your results, just adjust the numbers. Adjust the caloric intake, energy output. It’s all about numbers.

Petr Prielozny Interview
What   3   exercises   have   contributed   the   most   to   building   your   physique?

For the best progress, these 3 exercises shouldn’t be skipped in your workout routine. It’s squat, deadlift and bench press.

You can always play around with angles, positions, etc to change it up a bit. Rear squat, front squat. You can do presses with dumbbells, barbell, incline flat or decline. Just use your imagination.

If you want to be a true champion, you also have to exercise your mind to be strong, determined, persistent. True champions should also behave like a true champions.

What   supplements   do   you   use?

As I always mention to everyone, supplements are only useful when your nutrition is perfect.

I use 100% whey protein, maltodextrine, dextrose, glutamine,  casein, tribulus terrestis, dhea, l-arginine, caffeine, vitamin c, multivitamin, fish oil, joint support.

I was trying to find the perfect post workout drink and I personally recommend mix of whey protein, maltodextrine, dextrose, glutamine, creatine.

What   is   the   most   common   training   question   that   people   ask   you?

People usually ask how much can I bench press, etc. And I always answer them that bodybuilding is not about this. Its about feeling the muscle stretching and contracting, bringing fresh blood into muscle cells, etc.

Not many people know, but powerlifting used to be a part of a bodybuilding show, when bodybuilding first started. You were judged by your physique performance, but also by numbers you lifted during a competition. Old school :)

Howdy Petr ! About a year ago I weighed 321 pounds, good muscle, but covered in fat. I told myself that it was NO way to live and I had to change myself. After being a flight attendant for 14 years, retired full benefits, I got lazy, obviously… I decided to look up the sexist man I could and studied all he had to say on his routine and lifestyle. I am gay and my husband is a Pilot and he has no problem staying built for that, I just got lazy, working in the air that long drove me nuts. Well, I started to read about, made a life size poster of you and said, THAT is my trainer. I have lost 100 pounds, and really seeing the difference in form and owe it all to you. I wanted to know if I could get an autograph picture for the workout room/office. If so, here is my addy, 8627 Ritts Mill Road, Shingletown CA 96088, phone is 530-474-3724. I would also be honored to pay for services for a great diet and routines. THANK YOU for ALL you have done for me, you are such an inspiration!! ALL my best to you and your wife with the new company!!
