Interview with Fitness Model Scotty Lindsey

Scotty Lindsey Interview

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you started training?

My name is Scotty (Hardbody) Lindsey. I am a Fitness Model, Personal Trainer and Actor. I was born and raised in Houston, TX and graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. I played professional football for about six years and loved every minute of it. After giving up football and returning back home to Houston, I found out that my sister was diagnosed with high blood pressure while having problems with her weight. I was determined to help her lose weight and get that blood pressure down. I started doing more in depth research on nutrition, training, supplementation and general health. It was really important for me to learn as much as possible to help her. Within two months of my researching and training her, she lost about 10-15lbs. After training my sister, I was compelled to help others change their lives, change their choices, and change their destiny so becoming a Personal Trainer/Motivational Speaker was the only option. The Fitness Modeling side of things came about because people (mostly agents and scouts) would always compliment my physique and encourage me  to look into modeling and competing. So I decided to compete in a couple of fitness modeling competitions as they were a good fit for my physique and my personality. Shortly after, I won the 2011 REAL Fitness Modeling Competition and TKO’s Sports Brand “Model Of The Year”Award. I am focused, passionate and genuinely devoted to the idea of spreading health and fitness knowledge to all.

How do you stay motivated?

My motivation comes from within me. Honestly, I feel that no one should have to push you to perfection, it should already be in your heart, mind and soul to truly obtain your well deserved greatness.

What is your current workout routine?

For the most part, I consistently do split routines. I will conquer a heavy workout routine for about 4 to 6 weeks, then switch to a high rep workout routine so that I can focus on both muscle growth and endurance.  Most men make the mistake of training only their muscles while ignoring their endurance. To be an elite/well rounded athlete you must be able to have both. Endurance and Power!

What is your diet like?

My diet really depends on my career demands. When I have a fitness photo-shoot or competition scheduled then usually I am on a high protein/low carb diet. If I don’t have an event scheduled within months, I mostly stay balanced across the board. (300 grams carbohydrates / 300 grams protein)
Either way……..This body of mine is always camera ready!

What gives you the best results when trying to get lean?

I would say interval training on the treadmill tones my legs out tremendously. As far as my upper body, I would say cardio and proper diet alone helps me lean out.

What 3 exercises have contributed the most to building your physique?

Too many to mention, but since I have to choose……let’s go with Squats, Lunges and Deadlifts. My upper body develops even faster from working out my legs about two times a week.

What supplements do you use?

I don’t use too many supplements,  but when I do…….. I only use Size On, Super Pump and Gold Standard Whey Protein.

What is the most common training question that people ask you?

“How long will it take me to look like you?”.  I always say “a lifetime if you do it the right way.”  This is not an overnight physique, it takes discipline, dedication and determination. Most importantly…..it is all NATURAL!!!!
